Slow

It all begins with an idea.

January 1, 2017

We’ve been pondering the speed at which our lives seem to be moving, remembering when time passed slowly; when twenty-four hours seemed just about right and summer vacation lasted a lifetime. It wasn’t that long ago that a day stretched in front of us with endless possibilities. We crave that earlier pace that once seemed normal.

Of course time is just a construct. It isn’t the pace of time that needs to change, but how we use it. The intention - a willingness to savor the moment; linger over a meal; set aside the hours to read a book; enjoy a cup of coffee served in ceramic mug instead of a paper cup.

On the first walk of the new year, our footing challenged by ice and snow, we resolve that 2017 will be a year of rediscovering human speed. We invite you to do the same. We have no idea if we’ll succeed but we’ll take it one step at a time, abandoning meaningless distractions that inundate our lives. We’ll try, instead, to focus on the people and activities that mean the world to us.

Happy new year. Take it slow.
